{"id":496,"date":"2018-01-17T11:27:39","date_gmt":"2018-01-17T16:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/?p=496"},"modified":"2018-01-17T11:27:39","modified_gmt":"2018-01-17T16:27:39","slug":"victory-is-certain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/victory-is-certain\/","title":{"rendered":"Victory is Certain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This blog is part of this past Sunday&#8217;s sermon at Westlake Baptist Church. \u00a0I had no idea how meaningful it would be for several families in our church at the time. \u00a0Then God decided to use it in another way this week as our family got some difficult news over the last 24 hours. \u00a0My prayer in sharing this point is that God again will use it to bring comfort, joy, and strengthen the faith of those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.<\/p>\n<p>The context of this point is Genesis 3:15, the First Gospel message. \u00a0The point was the second of the message. \u00a0The point was victory is certain. \u00a0This is only true for those who have trusted in Jesus Christ. \u00a0If you haven&#8217;t, I want to encourage you to reach out to us on the blog or even to e-mail me at westlakebc@gmail.com. \u00a0I would love the privilege of telling you the greatest story ever recorded, the message that can not only change your day today, but will change your eternity as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victory is certain<\/strong>.\u00a0 In Genesis 3:15 we see both of Jesus\u2019 comings predicted.\u00a0 The phrase\u201d He shall bruise thy head\u201d is a reference to Jesus\u2019 Second Coming, where satan\u2019s ultimate defeat is accomplished with Jesus throwing satan into the lake of fire as we see in Revelation 20:10.\u00a0 The last phrase of Genesis 3:15 refers to the cross of Christ.\u00a0 The cross and resurrection sealed satan\u2019s fate.\u00a0 Now why is the Second Coming mentioned before Jesus\u2019 first coming in this verse?\u00a0 It shows us that God\u2019s victory is guaranteed.\u00a0 Despite what the cross looked like, God knew the outcome.\u00a0 Here in the Garden of Eden it seems as though satan has won and hope was lost because Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sinned.\u00a0 Yet God here says hold on, I get the final word.\u00a0 At the cross, the disciples felt lost and hopeless as they watched Jesus die from afar.\u00a0 The religious leaders and the Roman government thought they had won by crucifying Jesus.\u00a0 But God said, it may be Friday, but Sunday is coming.\u201d\u00a0 Allow this to encourage you dear Christian.\u00a0 Regardless of what you are through right now, regardless of what happens in your life; satan doesn\u2019t have the final word.\u00a0 Your past isn\u2019t the last word.\u00a0 And when satan tries to remind you of your past, remind him of his future.\u00a0 For Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 15:55-57, \u201cO death, where is your sting?\u00a0 O grave, where is your victory?\u00a0 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the Law.\u00a0 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d\u00a0 I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds my tomorrows.\u00a0 I can face uncertain days because I have the blessed assurance that Jesus is mine.\u00a0 And He has taught me to say and to know that whatever my lot in life is, whatever my circumstances may be, it is well with my soul.<\/p>\n<p>What about yours?
