{"id":93,"date":"2012-11-14T09:07:14","date_gmt":"2012-11-14T14:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/?p=93"},"modified":"2012-11-14T09:07:14","modified_gmt":"2012-11-14T14:07:14","slug":"enough-talking-already","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/enough-talking-already\/","title":{"rendered":"Enough Talking Already"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What do athletes and politicians have in common?\u00a0 They talk a great game but most of them deliver sub-par performances.\u00a0 When I use to play baseball our team loved when the other team talked to the papers before the game.\u00a0 We called it &#8220;bulletin board material.&#8221;\u00a0 We would cut out the article and hang it in the dugout.\u00a0 It served as inspiration for us as a team, although our coach would also tell us to let it serve as a reminder that talk is cheap.\u00a0 It seems as athletes could use that reminder in this day and age of social media.\u00a0 Virtually everything you say is heard and\/or recorded these days.\u00a0 My dad always told me &#8220;son let your play on the field do your talking.&#8221;\u00a0 Anyone can go out and talk a good game, but it is better to not say anything and play a good game.\u00a0 Proverbs 14:23 says, &#8220;In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.&#8221;\u00a0 In other words, hard work has its reward but simply talking only leads to poverty.\u00a0 There are many Christians and even churches who talk about what they are going to do or what the church should do.\u00a0 However, there are very few Christians or churches actually doing it.\u00a0 We all get in our holy huddle and talk about the need to serve the community and to share the Gospel with those around us.\u00a0 Yet sadly enough for the most part it simply isn&#8217;t happening.\u00a0 While we who have been saved by God&#8217;s grace sit back and talk about what we are going to do, there are many people dying and going to hell.\u00a0 This should break our hearts as Christians because it should have been and could have been us.\u00a0 But someone loved God and us enough to come share the Gospel with us, and God drew us with His love and grace, and we were saved.\u00a0 The question is, do we love God and others enough to stop simply talking about what we are going to do, and actually get out there and do it?\u00a0 The longer we sit and talk, the more people who die without Christ and go to hell.\u00a0 Eventually it is going to be someone that we know and that we care about.\u00a0 Are you willing to sit back and talk about it while someone you care about goes to hell?\u00a0 Learn to share the Gospel and then share it, it just might save someone you care about.<\/p>\n<p>By His grace and through His strength may we live for Him!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do athletes and politicians have in common?\u00a0 They talk a great game but most of them deliver sub-par performances.\u00a0 When I use to play baseball our team loved when the other team talked to the papers before the game.\u00a0 &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/enough-talking-already\/\">Read More <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"spay_email":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/93"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=93"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/93\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":94,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/93\/revisions\/94"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=93"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=93"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.westlakebaptist.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=93"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
